FIREBIRD AST TEAM DONATES TO JOSÉ ANDRÉS & THE WORLD CENTRAL KITCHEN TO SUPPORT THEIR EFFORTS TO FEED FEDERAL WORKERS
/January 24, 2019, Arlington, VA – Firebird AST today announced that it has made a significant donation to Chef José Andrés and the World Central Kitchen (WCK) to support their efforts to feed unpaid Federal workers in the Washington, DC Metro area as well nationwide. To date, Chef José Andrés and WCK are feeding an average of 8000 federal workers daily who are not getting a paycheck due to the current partial government shutdown. The current operation is located on Pennsylvania Ave., Washington, DC and involves a pop-up restaurant where federal workers can receive a free plate of healthy food (soups, sandwiches, salads) and a resource center/market next door where these folks can also receive a free bag of groceries to make healthy, nourishing meals at home (rice, pasta, fresh fruit and veggies) as well as other items such as diapers and pet food. Meanwhile, the WCK is about to deploy 30 more of these types of kitchens distributed over 14 other states. This critical WCK project is financed entirely from generous private and corporate donations. Here is where anyone else interested in donating can do so: https://www.worldcentralkitchen.org/donate#!
